A downloadable game

NOTE (October 2021): The development of I WILL FIND HER is currently on hold, while we're working to revive and finish our textmode RPG Whispers in the Moss

I WILL FIND HER is a roguelite zombie survival game like you've never seen before. Boasting some of the most ambitious textmode graphics ever seen in video games, it is a claustrophobic roadtrip through a desolate post-apocalyptic world. In solo development by Uncultured Games, the game is estimated for a 2022 release.

Scavenge through an atmospheric semi-procedurally created world.  Fight hordes of zombies or try to sneak by them. Seek shelter in abandoned (?) buildings, eat, fight, survive, sleep. You have but one objective—to travel east and find HER—but the how, the why and the when are all up to you.

  • Ambitious and detailed textmode (ANSI) graphics: a day/night cycle, lighting effects and weather conditions.
  • Each playthrough is different: the world in I WILL FIND HER is a combination of procedurally created areas and handcrafted special locations.
  • Top-down gun combat with 360° mouse aiming, plus a large selection of melee weapons.
  • Possibly a custom soundtrack and sound effects.
  • Two game modes for two types of players: Story Mode and the roguelike-esque Endless Survival.
  • Estimated release for PC in 2022.

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?

We'd love to hear your thoughts, leave us a comment!

"i've always been fascinated with how an abstract art style can really improve immersion, especially for games where you're supposed to feel confused, isolated or unfamiliar. none of it LOOKS real, but it FEELS like it, and that's incredible. i'm really excited for this!" Hi!

I notice that you only use QB64 to develop games. Nowadays many BASIC dialects are actually suitable for game development. Why did you select QB64 to create games? What  advantages does QB64 have over other BASIC dialects?

Hi, and thanks for your comment! I've been coding in QuickBASIC since I was 9 or 10. QB64 has everything I need, it removes the memory limitations and there's a massive amount of new commands that together make QB64 a serious and a sufficient coding environment (for my needs at least). Also, I don't really have a choice. :-D I have some skills in other coding languages and BASIC dialects, but since I'm a part-time hobbyist, I don't have the time or the interest to try and master any new systems at this point. I'll keep using QB64 until I hit that moment where I want to do something that QB64 doesn't support. We're not there yet!

Hello!

Your reply is a long post! A detailed explanation!

"QB64 has everything I need," <== Good!

"it removes the memory limitations and there's a massive amount of new commands that together make QB64 a serious and a sufficient coding environment (for my needs at least)." <==  Thanks for explaining to me! I really don't know since I am not a QB64 user. QB64 sounds like a very useful and versatile programming software.

"I don't have the time or the interest to try and master any new systems at this point." <== Time is  a real problem!

" I'll keep using QB64 until I hit that moment where I want to do something that QB64 doesn't support." <== I see! I hope that you will continue releasing good games made with QB64 in the future!!!

I will, thanks! :)
